Solution

TV Magic, provided all technical engineering design, equipment and system specifications, complete system integration, responsibility for equipment purchasing, and on-going engineering staffing support via an out-sourcing agreement. The workflow within the facility was tapeless which back in the late 90's was considered cutting edge technology.

Challenge

One challenge was coordinating all the frequencies for sending the signals from Kearny Mesa to the master control which was in Tijuana. Since these signals were not US frequencies, the approval process was lengthy. Multiple steps were taken prior to getting the fiber feed. Technically the feed started by sending the signal via satellite from San Diego to Tijuana, next from microwave and finally via fiber.
