Situation

Located on the corner of 15th and Park Avenue, is WTBY, Trinity Broadcast Network's digital TV channel in the heart of New York City. The building provides advanced HD production capabilities for Channel 54, which is now equipped to provide more local programming targeted to city residents as well as support theatrical and motion picture debuts. The production infrastructure consists of a main stage and a 298-seat auditorium are located on the theater's first floor, the second stage and ballroom on the second and all of the production control rooms are on the third. "New York Now," hosted by the pastor of Brooklyn's Christian Cultural Center, was TBN's first local program taped in New York City.

Challenge

Since the building is classified as a historical site, circa 1850's, it has no elevator installed and so each piece of equipment and all the materials were carried up five flights of stairs.

Solution

The HD production workflow utilizes a Grass Valley Kalypso HD video production switcher with a Miranda Kaleido-X multi-image display processor and TVLogic 46in HD LCD video screen. In addition to a Grass Valley Jupiter control system, Panasonic DVCPRO and Ikegami HDK-79EXII HD cameras with Canon are installed along with a two-channel Pinnacle Systems Deko HD CG and a 360 Systems Instant Replay system. The network?s audio production suite is outfitted with an SSL production audio mixer and Pro Tools.
